The local non-for-profit organisation CADEP (Comité des Agriculteurs pour le Développement Participantif) has advocated for a sustainable development of the socially economic discriminated region of Nordkivu, in which they have supported local farmers and agriculturalists through technical and scientific advice amongst other things.CADEP is supporting “Bureau de Coordination” at the moment, at the Institute in Mweso and a similar “Bureau de Liaison” in the province capital Goma, in which Internet and modern offices are made available. The co-workers of our partner organisation put presence and concrete support above all, to develop solidarity, sustainability and engagement. The institute is lead by engineers Viateur Mujogo and Christophe Bazambanza. Both decided to return home to engage in the rehabilitation in Mweso and Masisi after their studies in Belgium and France of Agriculture and Development. CADEP is foremost dedicated to liaising and supporting farms onsite. In addition, apprenticeships are offered from Agriculturalists utilising their specialist support, mentoring and help. One of the most important goals for CADEP is the task of reaching out to young school children and their families to encourage support for them to become students. As a result of these ongoing efforts, the Agricultural Insitute ISEA in Mweso was reopened in 2008.The scholarship program doesn’t just work towards these obvious gains. Alongside their trustworthy and reliable on site partner organisation, we also try to engage people working alongside them, who are from similar situations or from the same region so that they can see of the results which ties in with our approach of encouraging people to help themselves with the goal of a sustainable, positive change in war and conflict affected regions.
