The Scholarship Program (Program ends: 2024)
Program start: 2007
Currently supported: 1 scholar (as of 2024)
Total supported: 76 scholars
Program region: Kindu is the capital of Maniema Province in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo. It is a regional trade and administrative center and has several schools and universities.
The dedicated scholars of Studieren Ohne Grenzen studied there in a variety of degree programs.
The full scholarship covers not only study-related costs (tuition fees as well as support for tuition fees) but also living and housing costs until the completion of the first and/or second academic degree.
Projects of the Scholars
The scholars apply the skills they have learned during their studies to a wide range of social engagement. While studying, they support existing initiatives, such as tutoring programs or health centers. After graduation, they implement their own projects. These range from educational radio broadcasts and training businesses to combat youth unemployment to pig farming for food security and a medical practice for expectant mothers.
Future of the Project
Since Studieren Ohne Grenzen can no longer sufficiently ensure the fulfillment of its own standards on site, the program will end with the graduation of the last scholar at the end of 2024.
