Latest News from the Program:

In December 2024, we launched a new scholarship project and welcomed 9 new scholarship recipients into our program. We support them throughout their studies in various fields.

Work of the Program Group

We support the scholarship recipients not only organizationally but also maintain regular contact with them and are available for personal matters. As a program group, we also value public relations work by providing accessible insights into the everyday lives of our scholarship recipients.

The Project Region:

The West Bank is an area bordering Israel to the west and Jordan to the east. On its 5,800 square kilometers, about 85 percent of the population are Palestinians and 15 percent are Jewish. Since 1967, the area has been occupied by Israel in violation of international law (Resolution 478 (1980) of 20 August 1980). Due to territorial claims from both Palestinian and Israeli sides, tensions regularly arise in the region. Because of the economic situation in the West Bank, many young people cannot afford to study there.

The Scholarship Program

Program start: 2020

Currently supported: 11 scholarship recipients (as of June 2025)

Successfully completed scholarships: 5 recipients (as of June 2025)

The scholarship recipients study at various universities in the West Bank. The scholarship covers (partial) tuition fees as well as a monthly allowance for living and educational expenses.

Projects of the Scholarship Recipients:

The scholarship recipients engage in their own projects or participate in existing organizations and projects during their studies. They are free to choose the focus of their project. These projects allow them to apply and further develop their skills and knowledge gained during their studies. For example, they offer educational and care services for children with disabilities or support the public relations work of NGOs.

For project-related expenses, scholarship recipients receive up to $100 per year.

Local Partner: The Community Development & Continuing Education Institute (CDCE-I)

On site, the program is supported by CDCE-I, for example in the announcement of the scholarship and the non-material support of the recipients, as a contact point, and by conducting workshops.

CDCE-I is a non-profit NGO founded in Bethlehem in 2010. The goal of CDCE-I, in addition to promoting pluralism and human rights, is to increase the participation of young people in shaping the social and economic structures of the West Bank through integration into the labor market. CDCE-I is committed to the sustainable development of the region and supports various projects, focusing on career planning (from which our program graduates also benefit) and "legal awareness," which aims to empower people to better assert their rights by providing basic legal knowledge. CDCE-I also participates in various initiatives, such as improving safe transportation for students or beautifying schools with the help of students.
